School Closing Information

Schools try to avoid closing for weather conditions, but we are first and foremost concerned for the safety and well being of the students and the drivers. Schools cannot close based on a "prediction". A slight change in the winds can make a vast difference in the outcome. When the forecast starts to look bad, we receive calls to ask what we will do. We realize that a school closing impacts family work situations. There are many factors that go into making a decision to close. 

Please remember the following important facts:

1.  If the West Aurora School District 129 closes for weather then we will be closed because we will not have bus service.

2.  Listen to the radio and television for school closings.  We use WGN TV and radio.

We also list with WKKD radio (95.9 FM).

3.  Please do not call school.  It is not always possible to make an announcement for the answering machine.

* Some years we do not have to close school. However, we need to be prepared in the event of a closing.

Special Notes for Extended Day:                

It is not always possible for a school closing to be announced by 7:00 AM. Morning Extended Day parents please do not drop off children. Come in and sign them in as stated in our procedures. This is extremely important in the event of bad weather.

Afternoon Extended Day Parents: Please remember that pick-up is no later than 5:00 PM. in the event of bad weather please allow additional drive time to arrive by 5:OOPM.
